Hi there, and thank you for visiting!
My name is Asami, and this post is the first in my Sakura Saku Japanese Lesson series — a collection of beginner-friendly Japanese lessons explained in English.
What is “Sakura Saku Japanese Lesson”?
It’s a series of lessons designed for people who want to learn Japanese from scratch.
I stream my Japanese lessons regularly on Twitch, where I teach in English and use simple, easy-to-follow slides.
This blog is for reviewing what I taught in the stream.
I hope this space will be helpful, supportive, and fun for anyone learning Japanese!
👩🏫 About Me
I’m from Japan and have been teaching English for over 10 years.
In 2019, I earned my Japanese Language Teaching Certificate, and now I’m finally putting it into action — this is my very first time teaching Japanese formally!
I’m really excited to start this journey with you.
I know learning a new language can feel overwhelming, but we’ll take it step by step — and I’ll be here to support you along the way.
I’ve also been studying English for many years, so I understand the struggles of learning a foreign language. My English isn’t perfect, so if I make a mistake, feel free to correct me — I’d really appreciate it 😊
🌸 About the Lesson Name: Sakura Saku
This series is called “Sakura Saku Japanese Lesson.”
In Japanese, sakura means cherry blossoms, and saku means to bloom. 🌸
But it’s not just a pretty image — the phrase “sakura saku” also has a deeper meaning.
It’s often used to express success, like passing an important exam or achieving a goal.
I chose this name because I want your Japanese learning to bloom beautifully — just like cherry blossoms in spring!

🏠 About This Blog
My husband and I run this blog together.
He writes in Japanese for a Japanese-speaking audience, covering a variety of topics like daily life and personal reflections.
He also enjoys photography, especially black-and-white photos of everyday life in Japan.
So as you explore our blog, you might come across some beautiful monochrome images that capture the quiet charm of Japan.
I’m in charge of the Japanese language lessons for English speakers.
Even though our writing styles and topics are different, we both hope to share something meaningful and real — from language to culture, and everything in between.
